Straight from the kick off Carnoustie tested keeper Bejaoui who turned the strike away for a corner kick. Immediately afterwards, Carnoustie keeper McPherson had to look lively to save a Mitchell strike on goal. In the 10th minute, Somerville beat keeper MacPherson to the ball but his cross was headed narrowly past by Lough. The Gowfers took the lead in the 17th minute when Barr slipped in the penalty box and McCABE had all the time in the world to pick his spot had stroke the ball past Bejaoui. One minute later Bejaoui look on anxiously as the ball whistled past his right hand post. Shortly afterwards MacPherson parried a Lough free kick but Mitchell saw his effort go just wide of the target. In the 23rd minute, McIlravey found himself in acres of space on the right, beat Cunnison only to see Bejaoui block his shot. Carnoustie doubled their lead in the 27th minute when McILRAVEY slotted home after good work by McCabe. Nine minutes later, Penicuik pulled a goal back when BRUCE got the slightest touch to steer the ball past MacPherson.

From the restart Penicuik broke up the left and Lough’s strike went inches wide of the upright. In the 56th minute, a superb move by Carnoustie required Bejaoui to be at his best to deny the home side. Ten minutes later substitute Devlin saw his strike beat the keeper, but went inches wide of the post. Penicuik continued to pile on the pressure and their hard work and endeavour was rewarded with two late goals in the 84th and 86th minutes through Barr and substitute Devlin. Carnoustie were by far the better side in the first half, but Penicuik worked tirelessly to earn three had fought points.
