Following the recent decision of Midlothian Council to rename ‘Penicuik Park’ as ‘Montgomery Park’ the club committee, after consulting all stakeholders, proposed at the AGM on Wednesday that the ground be renamed as ‘Montgomery Park’ in honour of our late friend Adam Montgomery who as a councillor and Provost of Midlothian worked tirelessly to assist the club in many ways.
The AGM backed the proposal unanimously and the ground will now be known as Montgomery Park.
Scott Montgomery said ‘Our family were delighted to learn that at Wednesday’s AGM that Penicuik Athletic have agreed to rename the ground in memory of Cllr Montgomery. He would be very proud that the ground now carries his name. He was a keen supporter of the club both from the terraces and in his role as a local councillor. We all look forward to watching matches at Montgomery Park.'
