Hill of Beath started strongly with Adamson on the right wing causing the Penicuik defence problems. In the 6th minute he got round the back of the Penicuik defence to cross the ball into the box where Hay was pulled down by Liddell. However Bejaoui saved Moffat’s spot kick and Hay blasted the rebound over the bar from inside the six yard box. One minute later the visitor’s went ahead when Adamson saw his shot brilliantly blocked by Bejaoui but HAY followed up to slam the ball into the back of the net. In the 13th minute, Adamson raced up the wing and crossed the ball into the box where Hay got his head to the ball, but it went inches over the bar. On the half hour, another great Adamson cross was met by McKenzie, but his effort went narrowly wide of the goal. In the 42nd minute, a swift attack by Penicuik saw Lister in with only Hall to beat but he was scythed down by McCulloch who was red carded. McCALLUM converted the penalty kick.

In the opening minutes of the second half Adamson was denied by a superb save by keeper Bejaoui In the 57th minute, a long range effort by Moffat was well saved by Bejaoui. At the other end, Jancyzk set up Devine, and has powerful strike was deflected wide of goal for a corner. Four minutes later, Adamson got past two defenders to cross the ball into the box and Hay’s strike was again saved by Bejaoui. Immediately afterwards keeper Hall dived down low to save a strike by Thomson. In their next attack a searching Gay cross was just missed by Barr at the back post. In the 73rd minute Hall comfortably saved a Barr strike. Hill of Beath broke quickly from defence and danger man Adamson saw his strike bring out a top drawer save by Bejaoui, but McKENZIE, following up, headed the ball into the empty net. Penicuik had one final chance for the equaliser in the 90th minute, but keeper hall was well placed to save substitute Patterson’s strike.
