This fixture was hastily rearranged after the game on Saturday was abandoned at half time when the pitch flooded and it turned out to be a game of two halves. Penicuik dominated the first forty five minutes, but it was a different Jeanfield side that came out in the second half and deservedly earned all three points. The visitors took the lead in the 6th minute when ALEXANDER pounced on a mistake by Young and coolly slotted the ball past Bejaoui. However Penicuik dusted themselves off, got back into the game and in the 10th minute a great Killin cross was headed over the bar by McCulloch. Then a Cunnison free kick was again headed by McCulloch but keepr Bruce at full stretch tipped the ball over the bar. From the corner, Ross was inches away from heading the ball home at the front post. In the 32nd minute, McCulloch creatyed space for himself inside the box, but fluffed his shot and Bruce gathered easily. However, Penicuik equalised in the 35th minute when the ball rebounded off Deans and fell to McCULLOCH who took full advantage to slam the ball past Bruce. In the 41st minute, a thirty yard strike by Montgomery beat keeper Bruce all ends up, but the ball crashed back off the crossbar. Penicuik continued to press, but they could not get the ball past a resolute defence.

HALFTIME | Penicuik Athletic 1-1 Jeanfield Swifts

In the second half and Jeanfield upped the pace of their game, quickly closing down Penicuik, being first to the ball and winning every second phase ball. Their hard work saw them by far the better side as the game progressed and deservedly took the lead in the 69th minute with a quick break down the right wing and the cross into the box found REID in acres of space allowing him to pick his spot with a header. Penicuik had a chance when McPartlin was set free but Bruce pulled off the save of the game to deny the midfielder. Jeanfield saw out the remainder of the game comfortably and the Penicuik champagne was once again put on ice.
