Penicuik were caught cold when John Hall opened the scoring for Whitehill in the 2nd minute. However Penicuik equalised when new signing Neil Jancyzk volleyed home from close range. Then a delightful lob by Greg Ross put Cuikie ahead in the 17th minute. The home side squared the game ten minutes later when Wayne McIntosh converted a penalty kick.

Into the second half and Whitehill upped the pace and rattled in three goals in a space of ten minutes. The first saw McIntosh head home from a corner kick and then seven minutes later, a long range effort by Darren McGlashan slipped through the hands of Penicuik’s trialist goal keeper. The scoring was rounded off by Kerr Dodds following an excellent passing move from Whitehill’s own penalty area down the right wing and the ball was slotted past the keeper from just inside the penalty box
