In the 10th minute, a chance fell to Blackburn, but Watt got down low to save. Minutes later, Forbes intercepted a loose pass and tried a snap shot which went wide of the near post ‬.In the 17th minute, a ball over the top found Somerville but his tame shot went straight to Saunders‬ in goal. Five minutes later, McCrory-Irving tried a half volley from distance but his effort didn’t trouble the keeper‬. On the half hour, Howie drove forward for the hosts and hit a powerful shot at Watt which he saved comfortably. ‬Then, a corner to Blackburn sees Campbell’s glancing header flash past the post. In the 39th minute, a Smith free kick went inches wide of the upright. Two minutes later the home side took the lead. A long ball clearance saw Young and Page hesitate and CAMPBELL took full advantage of the error and lob the ball over Watt.

HALFTIME | Blackburn United 1-0 Penicuik Athletic

Five minutes into the half and Howie had a chance for Blackburn but he blasted the ball over the bar. At the other end, McCrory-Irving sent over a cross from the right and keeper Saunders pulled off a superb one handed save to block Tansey’s header. Two minutes later, Tansey saw his diving header hit the side netting. In the 58th minute, Tansey again got his head to a Somerville cross, but the ball drooped over the crossbar. Penicuik were piling on the pressure looking for the equaliser and Jones should have done better after the ball was knocked done to him by Somerville, but his strike flew over the bar. Three minutes later, Tansey set up Somerville, but Saunders got down well to save. In the 67th minute, O’Donnell struck a low effort from 35 yards that Saunders did well to smother. Blackburn were reduced to the long ball clearance from defence and goal kicks without creating any opportunities. In the 84th minute, Connolly headed narrowly wide of the target. One minute into injury time and a Stevenson strike flew over the bar. With the home fans urging the referee to blow for full time he did so after six minutes of added on time.
