We can confirm that defender Liam Hall has left Penicuik Athletic and joined Tranent.
A hugely popular figure at Montgomery Park, 'Doofs' joined the club after leaving Falkirk in the summer of 2023, though injury delayed his competitive debut to September, when he came on as a sub against Musselburgh. He quickly established himself in the Cuikie defence, showing his versatility across the back line. Over the next three seasons, he would go on to win countess player of the match awards due to his consistent high quality displays, also captaining the side on numerous occasions.
He'll tell you himself he was 'robbed' of his first Cuikie goal at Glenrothes in April 2025 due to an ill-timed penalty award, but the goal did eventually come as he headed home a last gasp equaliser against Lochar Thistle in the South Challenge Cup last September.
Overall, Doofs played ninety-one times for the Cuikie, scoring twice and registering five assists.
We wish Liam all the very best for the future, and thank you for your time at Penicuik, you'll always be welcome back at Montgomery Park.
