Three minutes later, an under hit pass by Somerville was intercepted by Crawford but his shot was beaten away by keeper Bald. Then a pinpoint cross by Sproule was headed wide by Lough. In the 12th minute, Aaron SOMERVILLE added a second from the penalty spot after being pulled down in the box. Five minutes later, following a corner to Penicuik, both Lough and then Somerville saw their efforts come back off the woodwork. It was all Penicuik now with the home side pinned back in defence, but Penicuik could not add to their tally.
HALFTIME | Livingston United 0-2 Penicuik Athletic
It took two minutes for the floodgates to open as Penicuik came out with all guns firing and Forbes combined with McCallum to get round the back of the Livingston defence. His low cross into the six yard box was tapped home by LOUGH. In the 49th minute, a long cross by Sproule to the back post found Hume who slipped the ball to McCALLUM who calmly side footed the ball into the net. At the other end, Livingston had a strong claim for a penalty when the ball struck Forbes’s hand but the referee was unmoved. Play then swung to the other end where McCallum’s cross was knocked home by substitute S SCOTT for the first of his four goals. Shortly afterwards his twin brother saw his effort blocked. Then keeper McArthur pulled off an excellent save to deny Hume. It was now backs to the wall defending by Livingston and S Scott almost added another, but his shot was deflected away for a corner. In the 66th minute the same player dragged a shot just wide of the post. In the 65th minute, Penicuik added a sixth when K Scott set up McCALLUM to slot home. Then in the 71st minute, K Scott crossed the ball into the box for S SCOTT to head home. In the78th minute, a driving run by Inglis released Montgomery on the left and his low cross was tapped past McArthur by S SCOTT for his hat trick. Three minutes later, K Scott crossed the ball in from the right wing that came off centre back Duncan and S SCOTT latched on to the loose ball to thump the it into the roof of the net. With minutes to go, K Scott won a header that set McCallum free and he coolly chipped the ball over keeper McArthur only to see the ball come back off the crossbar.
