In the opening minute keeper Fotheringham was at full stretch to save a header off a Penicuik corner kick. Play immediately swung to the other end where Bejaoui pulled off a great save to deny McComiskie. Then Hagan came close with a strike from the left side of the penalty box. In the 14th minute, Lochee opened the scoring from their fourth corner of the game. McCOMISKIE rose above the defence with a powerful header that Jancyzk blocked on the line, but the far side assistant ruled the ball had crossed the line. Five minutes later, Lochee doubled their lead when they broke quickly from defence and DEASLEY was on hand to stroke the ball past Bejaoui. In the 22nd minute, following a Penicuik corner kick, Lochee again broke quickly from defence but fortunately for Penicuik another fine save by Bejaoui prevented a third Lochee goal. Penicuik got back into the game in the 26th minute when a 25 yard strike by LOUGH hit the back of the net. Penicuik continued to build on the goal and a McCallum strike saw White just failing to deflect it toward the goal. At the other end McComiskie was again denied by Bejaoui. In the 37th minute keeper Fotheringham dropped the ball from a corner kick and only desperate defending stopped two strikes on goal as he tried to recover. One minute later and Penicuik’s pressure finally told when Lough headed the ball across goal and BARR slotted home from a tight angle.

HALFTIME | Lochee United 2-2 Penicuik Athletic

In Penicuik’s first attack, Keeper Fotheringham comfortably saved a Somerville header. Minutes later a ball over the Penicuik defence set up McComiskie but once again Bejaoui got down quickly to block the shot. In the 50th minute Bejaoui was Penicuik’s saviour when he tipped the ball away and two shots were blocked. However, minutes later, the home side were awarded a penalty when Young brought down Percy in the box. McCOMISKIE sent Bejaoui the wrong way to put the home side ahead once again. On the hour a strike by Somerville was saved by Fotheringham at the second attempt. Then another lightning break from defence by Lochee saw Percy have a great chance, but his effort went high and wide. Then Deasley saw his quick turn and shot inside the box deflected narrowly wide for a corner kick. From the corner Hay had all the room in the world to power in a header, but Bejaoui beat the ball away with another great instinctive save. In the 78th minute Lochee sealed the tie when DEASLEY slotted home his second and his side’s fourth goal. Two minutes later, Penicuik were caught out by the pace of Lochee and Deasly should have had a hat trick, but his effort went just wide of the upright.
