In the 14th minute, a blistering run by Young broke through the Craigmark defence, but Sproule’s curling cross found no Penicuik takers. Four minutes later, Dempster outpaced the Penicuik defence and only a last gasp tackle by Sproule cut out the striker’s cross. On the half hour, a quick break from defence by Craigmark saw Dyer go on a run and set up Dempster but his weak shot was easily gathered by Bejaoui. At the other end, a Hume header off a corner kick was headed off the line by Dawson. Then in the 33rd minute, another quick break from defence by the home side saw Bejaoui save a powerful Dempster strike. Two minutes later Penicuik took the lead when Lough headed on a Bejaoui clearance to SPROULE who deftly lobbed keeper Brotherstone. In their next attack Penicuik doubled their lead when SOMERVILLE blasted home after Forbes drove through the home defence. Just before half time, Dempster had another chance, but once again he was denied by a fine block by Bejaoui.

In the 87th minute, following a corner to Craigmark, substitute Mair saw his header cleared off the line by K Scott. In the second minute of injury time Craigmark almost got a consolation goal, but Reid’s effort saw Bejaoui, at full stretch, tip the ball away and cleared.
